Tag der Schrift 2026 Zurich – Recap
Having thoroughly enjoyed attending Tag der Schrift as a guest over the past few years, I was delighted to be invited as a speaker this year. Tag der Schrift is an annual event featuring lectures and workshops on the topic of typography, organized by the Schule für Gestaltung Zürich.
In my talk I told the audience of 160 people about the creation of the Fincker Font Cuisine, discussed the impact of type, and explored the possibilities offered by OpenType features. All of this, of course, was illustrated with type examples from my library.
In the subsequent workshop „Cooking Fonts,“ participants were able to sketch their first typeface designs after a brief theoretical introduction. I was truly fascinated by the resulting designs, especially the diversity that emerged despite the same brief.
It was an immense pleasure for me to be able to participate in this event. As always, the atmosphere was very open and friendly. Many thanks to all the participants for the wonderful conversations and new connections. Many thanks also to the other speakers – Ulrike Rausch, Philipp Stamm, Brigitte Jaggi, Miriam Reichensperger, and Samara Keller – for their excellent presentations and the time we spent together during the Tag der Schrift. And a special thank you goes to Dominique Kerber, Michaela Varin, Larissa Hoppeler and the entire organizing team at the Schule für Gestaltung Zurich. I’m already looking forward to participating again next year, this time as a guest.
And also, many thanks to Silvio Meier and Serpentype for the great time during the Day of Type. ;)
